Description
In front of the Vijay Vittala Temple in Hampi, Karnataka, stands the famous Stone Chariot monument. Honouring Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s official vehicle, the Hampi monument complex is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The elaborate carvings on the 16th-century Dravidian-style Stone Chariot portray scenes from mythological battles. It is observed that two elephants are dragging the chariot, standing on two enormous wheels.
